| Angler911.com's vision is to assist people that
have had their lives complicated by rare or
terminal cancer. By making the connection
between outdoors advocates and families in
need, we can make a difference in someone’s life.
Brent Beckwith, a current resident of Crystal Lake, Illinois has
been a passionate fisherman for over 30 years and loves to get out
every chance he can. Brent’s true fish of choice to catch is the
catfish but you will not see him turning down a chance to fish no
matter which species of fish it is.
Brent found his niche for helping others through fishing by starting
up WOW, Walk on Water Charity Ice Benefit, in 2004. With great
success and a lot of hard work, Brent has been able to acquire
numerous donations for raffle prizes which have raised him over
$10,000.00 in the last three years. Brent also organizes a bowling
charity event during the spring to help raise money.
Proven success has Brent teaming up with angler Gary Dew to
help raise funds through Angler 911.com by raffling donated guide
trips.
Gary Dew, a 4 Year Touring Angler on the Professional Musky
Tournament Trail, recently stepped down after 7 years from his
position as president of the Shawnee Muskie Hunters Chapter of
Muskies, Inc. During his tenure as President, Gary started his
philanthropy career. In 2002 Gary purchased a 2003 Ranger 175
Bass Boat and raffled it off to raise money for the Charlie Williams
family of Aurora, Ill. Combined with putting on a benefit as well,
the net raised totaled $18,800. Charlie was stricken with Liver and
Colon Cancer. Six Months later, Gary again purchased another
2003 Ranger Bass Boat, and raffled it off to help raise money for
the Brian Barron family of Rockford, Ill. Net raised was $13,300. In
2006, with the help of the SMH club, Gary put on the 1st annual
Lacey Graeff Caraway Benefit Musky Tournament. With a
tremendous amount of muskie tackle donations, they were able to
raise $8,500. Lacey of Murphysboro, Illinois, was stricken with
Peritoneal Mesothelioma. A second Tournament will be held on
March 24th and 25th of 2007. In 2004 Gary was the recipient of the
Chicagoland Sportswriters Humanitarian Award. In September of
2006, he was involved with a group from Coldwell Banker in St.
Charles, IL, to participate in putting on a benefit for Charlie
Williams, whose liver cancer had returned. Gary used his own
money to purchase raffle items that netted them nearly 60% of the
$5,500 raised. Gary has stated that all of the above could not have
been achieved without the unprecedented support of the nearly
8,000 members of Muskies, Inc. Gary has currently teamed up
with Brent Beckwith to help raise funds through Angler 911 by
raffling donated guide trips.
